New unemployment extension delayed as Senate takes Easter Recess

I feel like I'm in the movie Groundhog Day. Once again, the Senate puts a halt to debate or vote on an unemployment extension with a deadline fast approaching; once again the bill at hand isn't a long-term fix, but a mere 30-day stopgap measure; once again, GOP Senators lead the pack of opposition, arguing about paying for extensions we cannot afford; once again, the Senate takes a recess while the well-being of hundreds of thousands of American citizens hangs in the balance.Despite this delay, there have been statements issued saying that unemployment benefits extension will be a priority upon return from the Easter Recess, and that any legislation passed will be retroactive to make up for any gaps in the calendar.
